:: WORKSHOPS ::
Sanskar India Foundation conducts workshops in classrooms and wherever necessary on vermi-composting, paper recyling and preparation of natural holi colours, making eco-friendly Ganpati idols in the schools. Students are taught by means of demonstration the significance and importance of these workshops such that they are trained to replicate in future on their own.
Beyond classrooms, SIF also organized workshops and skits over weekends for the Kala Ghoda festival in February 2008 and 2009. The skits, with their twin messages of environmental and social values, attracted a great deal of interest while the workshops educated the public on vermi-composting, paper recycling and preparation of natural Holi colours.
A workshop on ‘waste management’ was conducted by SIF at JBCN school. SIF carried out awareness sessions on the mismanagement of waste in the city. This included introducing the students to segregation of waste into dry and wet waste, vermi-composting of wet waste and making them aware of the negative impacts of plastic.
SIF organized a visit for JBCN to J B Petit School in south Mumbai so that they could study the system of waste segregation initiated at the school by us.
SIF participated in the workshop for environment education in BMC schools organised by Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU) in July 2008. The workshop was intended to make recommendations to MTSU and BMC’s education wing for improving the standard of education and the academic environment in municipal schools in Mumbai. SIF made a presentation showcasing its success through its ‘Sanskar’ programme.
SIF organised a workshop on ‘The Importance of Greening’ for Parivartan Shikshan - an NGO that is located in Sangam Nagar, Antop Hill. The team conducted an awareness workshop for the children and the members of the NGO on the role of trees in keeping the environment clean. The workshop also sensitized the participants on how we are dependent on nature for our survival.
SIF conducted two workshops on recycling of paper and eco-friendly Holi colours at the SIES Indian Institute of Environment Management in Navi Mumbai. An SIF team also made a presentation on environmental awareness to faculty members and students.
