Kalpana Sain
Thirteen-year-old Kalpana Sain’s association with ‘Sanskar’ began in 2004. The programme left a profound impression on young Kalpana’s mind. Sanskar India Foundation is proud of Kalpana who educates people about civic and environmental issues and responsibilities.

Recognising her efforts, SIF presented her a special Achievement Award for her active participation following her completion of the Sanskar programme. Read on to know more about Kalpana’s inspirational work.

Mature beyond her years, Kalpana says: “It’s the responsibility of the children of this country to take care of the environment while the adults deal with the socio, economic and political problems.”

Kalpana’s work:
She has organised plays and programmes on Management of Waste by the 3R concept of reduce, recycle and reuse in her housing society in Navy Nagar and Antop Hill.

She has organised workshops on vermi-composting and preparation of natural holi colour for the people of her locality.

She carried out a ‘Say No to Plastics’ campaign in her community and succeeded in convincing many sailors to substitute plastic bags with paper bags.

She carried out a ‘Say No to Firecrackers’ campaign in her school and locality in Chennai.
