:: ORGAN DONATION ::
Whether we like it or not, we have to live with our bodies the way they are. But when a certain organ gets diseased beyond repair, there is help at hand in the form or an organ transplant. Medical science is continually expanding the realm of possibilities in this area.
Today, there are many parts of a deceased person which can be kept alive in someone else’s body - eyes, kidney, pancreas, liver, lung, heart and intestine. Even tissues such as bones, tendons, cornea, heart valves and skin can be used from a dead person’s body.
Such uses are only possible when people are aware. To create awareness about such life-giving donations, SIF has joined hands with the zonal transplant coordination centre (ZTCC) and students of Sydenham College of Management to promote organ donation in Mumbai.
